Mike Wade (Gritsmitten) is a Memphis-based percussionist, composer, audiovisual artist, and audio engineer specializing in modern rhythm-driven content and immersive sound design.

He holds a degree in Audio Engineering and Business from Middle Tennessee State University, where he studied under Dr. Don Aliquo, Dr. Joseph Akins, and Dr. Joseph Morgan. His academic background blends technical precision with a strong foundation in musicality, production, and entrepreneurship.

After graduating, Michael returned to the Memphis area to pursue a career as a performing musician. Following an extended hiatus from live performance due to a misdiagnosed case of Lyme disease, he redirected his creative focus toward composition, production, and digital media—an evolution that ultimately shaped his current artistic identity.

Operating under the name Gritsmitten, Michael delivers high-impact percussion, original compositions, and educational content that bridges performance, engineering, and visual storytelling. His work is known for its clarity, originality, and practical value, appealing to both creative professionals and brands seeking authentic, rhythm-forward audio experiences.
